Common Installation Ways In Surveillance System

Time:2020-07-08 Source:UTEPO

In this article, we will introduce you four installation ways in a surveillance system.

1. IP CAMERA, POWER SOURCE AND NETWORK CABLES

It's a common method, which requests laying power and network cables. The camera is powered by power source nearby.

2. POE SWITCH AND IP CAMERA

Compared with the last way, this saves the power cable. The PoE switch can supply power to cameras within 100 meters.

Why PoE switch is now the mainstream in the network monitoring system? The following are the advantages.

A. Save cost on cable, wiring time, and labor.

B. No extra power source (strong electricity) for cameras. Reduce failure probability, and lower maintenance costs.

C. Simple and convenient construction.

3. IP CAMERA, MEDIA CONVERTER AND FIBER CABLES

This way is for long distance transmission with high stability. As we all know, it needs media converters to help with the exchanging of data signal to fiber signal and fiber signal to data signal in fiber transmission.

The fiber optics are cheap, with long transmission distances, and widely used in surveillance projects. However, the fiber optics need to be fusion welded, while the welding equipment is expensive. For this reason, the welding process would be contracted out which may take extra cost and time.

Media converters are available in both 100 megabit and gigabit, depending on the number of cameras carried.

4. IP CAMERA AND CPE

When facing natural barriers or insurmountable obstacles in the wiring of a specific environment, the CPE would be adopted for the wireless transmission solution. For example, communities with the hardened pavement, elevators, factories, etc.

The CPE, which converts network signals into radio waves for point-to-point transmission, should be used in pairs. Due to the point-to-point directional transmission, it is possible to transmit data over long distances from hundreds of meters to tens of kilometers.

Note: There should be no obstructions between the transmitting and receiving terminals to ensure stability when using CPE.

The above four ways are commonly used in the monitoring installation, mainly select according to the environment, as a monitoring contractor, you need to have a certain degree of mastery of each way, to have the flexibility to make a normal selection according to the environment and the requirements of the party.
